Human Fiction

Action – Creation – Critique

Conversation

What is the link between action and fiction?

Similar suffixes… maybe there’s something there?

Yeah… no. Action = something you have done. Fiction = something that is not real. So, no. Fiction, not real. Thanks, though.

But, look, fiction is something that has to be done…

Can writing fiction really be an action? It is the act of putting thoughts to paper, or to computer screen. They say that “the pen is mightier than the sword”. So is the keyboard mightier than the atomic bomb? Than tear gas? Than gunshots? This is the question.

Sometimes it’s not so easy. But in other words, can words, even fictive ones, free us from fear? Or, on the other hand, scare us to death? This is a human question. Because fiction can destroy us if we let it. But, it can also remind us what it is to be human, to be individual, to be part of something, to be free, to be connected, to act.
